
Artist Kiroslawa Danuta Weitzen (AKA Danka Weitzen) was born in
1950, in Lodz, Poland. Her family soon moved to Turin, Italy. She
began training in the arts at the age of five with her father
Aleksander, who was a well known artist. Young Danka discovered her
love for painting in grade school, and received several awards. She
then went on to arts high school in Turin, and proceeded to enroll
in the painting department at Accademia Albertina, also in
Turin.Danka's first exhibition was in Turin at Ars Plauda in 1969.
Since then she has continued to exhibit around the world beginning
in 1983 in Holland then Egypt, Malta, Norway, Germany, Ireland, the
United States, Spain, USSR, Bulgaria, France, Poland, Costa Rica,
Kenya, and Ethiopia. Her works are included in many private and
public collections in Italy. Danka's painting style is influenced by
the Italian gothic style of Cosmetura (Cosimo da Tura) and by the
Ironic style of Caravaggio.
